The science
Caffeine, delivered through the cheek
Chewing gum releases caffeine into the mouth, where a portion is absorbed through the buccal mucosa rather than passing through the stomach first. In practice that means a faster, smoother onset than a drink — about five minutes for most people.
Caffeine with L-theanine
L-theanine is an amino acid found in tea leaves. Taken alongside caffeine it is widely used to take the edge off without dulling alertness. XYLO+ pairs them at roughly 1:2 — 50mg caffeine to 100mg L-theanine per piece.
Dose control
The FDA considers up to 400mg of caffeine a day safe for most healthy adults. At 50mg per piece that is eight pieces; one or two at a time is what almost everyone uses. Because the dose is per piece rather than per can, you can stop where you want to.
B6 and B12
Each piece delivers 100% of the Daily Value of vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. Both support normal energy metabolism and neurological function.
Xylitol and your teeth
Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that oral bacteria cannot ferment into acid. Chewing sugar-free gum after a meal also raises saliva flow, which helps clear acid and food debris.
